Instruction for sampling ear tissue for cattle genotyping #
The Allflex Tissue Sampling Collection consists of a appliactor gun and a sampling unit.
The Tissue Sampling Unit is made of three elements:
- collection tube with the preservative fluid,
- safety part (red connection piece),
- needle.
Preparation of the kit for collection tissue samples: #
- Insert the sampling unit into the applicator gun.
It is important to place the sampler in this way that it does not move forward and backward (the sampler cavity located on the border of the collection tube with the preservative fluid must be placed exactly on the top of the gun shaft). - Charge the appliactor gun by pressing the handles of the gun to the stop.
- Remove the red connection piece.
- Take sample by squeezing the gun handles firmly.
The ear of the animal must be in the space between the collection tube with preservative fluid and the needle. - Make sure that the sample is collected correctly.
In a collection tube with correctly collected sample, a green marker and a red plug are visible (if any of these elements are missing, the material must be re-collected from the animal using a new sampling unit). - Remove the used needle from the applicator gun by pulling the handles apart (in the opposite direction to the way the material is scooped and collected).
- Mark the animal ID (last 5 digits) on the sampler package.
